In which case I'll switch to malevolence. Does "hit" mean "whack it with your sword/wand/bow"? If so, I guess they're doing some tech with blood magic to reserve life and go low-life, and the consecrated ground only comes up in a party. With further testing, I can't proc consecrated ground even with bane or essence drain. But we don't cast those spells very often and don't want to be forced into doing so. Bane and Essence Drain both have a direct damage component so I think they are hits. I don't get how we're supposed to proc consecrated ground with ED occultist. One thing that some ED occultist build guides feature is Zealotry aura. My gloves have no ES on them at all, so that'll be an easy increase as well. That was from a start of about 2500/2000. By recrafting some gear and nodes and going more all-in on the ES plan, I was able to raise ES to 3918 and life is 1969. I have looked at some build guides and realized that the Zealot's Oath passive is pretty essential to the ES versions of the build, so I specced out to that. Completely dead picks on DoTs, which apparently aren't spell damage, even though they are damage that comes from spells. I messed up my passives tree by trying to take spell damage to es leech. Things still die fast enough, but now I can get oneshot by random Legion archer bosses and so forth. I think this is as far as I've gotten in POE. So now my atlas is going crazy with elder amoebas and so forth. Played a ton yesterday and caught a break - my T5 and T6 shaper map quests I happened to have the maps already. It took me 2 days /played to reach full atlas completion (with the exception of a couple of the harder to get unique maps). That was my general strategy for SSF this league. A great strategy for SSF is to save that quest reward until you have all but 1 map in that tier filled in, then you can choose the map you're missing as the quest reward. You also get maps as a quest reward from zana, and you don't need to collect that reward immediately. For red maps it is horizon orbs - so don't use any horizon orbs on T10 and lower, you'll need them for the reds. You can use the "alternate of same tier" zana mod for 1 chaos to fill in maps that you missed, up through T10. I don't think there's much problem just running the maps you have. Carefully chiselling up and alching all the connected maps that I find, but I think I messed up by opening a lot of maps that aren't in the path of the quest early on.

Bottleneck (in SSF) is finding the map I need.
